Aaron Petersen

Chair of Governors

Aaron is the Chair of Governors across the Harbour Schools Group. With a wealth of experience working with schools and in business, Aaron is a critical friend to the school and uses his skills to lead the governors in improving school life.

Aaron’s role in the Governance team is to build capacity within his team and give a clear lead and direction, ensuring that the governors work as an effective team and understand their accountability and part they play in strategic leadership of the school and in driving school improvement.

Gareth McCullough

Executive Head teacher

Gareth is the Executive Head teacher and a member of THSG Senior Management Team and School Improvement Team respectively. Working nationally at the forefront of innovative school improvement has led him to hold distinguished positions as a PIXL Associate and is a Challenge Partner for SEMH Special Schools. His drive and determination for educational excellence and a world class 21st Century education for all our learners is in tune with a deep belief in equality and inclusion.

Gareth’s role in the Senior Management Team expands upon his knowledge and expertise across the company in Learning, Teaching, Assessment and Curriculum. Gareth provides the Senior Management Team with invaluable quality assurance and support across all schools and sites. This also extends to overall responsibility for safeguarding.

John McLean

Director of Therapy

John is the Director of Therapy and a member of THSG Senior Management Team. Having initially studied at UCL specialising in clinical psychology, John spent the first two years in the neurology department at Middlesex Hospital. From then he has worked in several settings including head of psychology and SEN specialist of a large South East London school.

John stayed 12 years in this post before moving to a new setting as the Director of Therapy and Deputy Head Teacher of a specialist provision for children in residential care with SEN or social, emotional or mental health needs (SEMH).

Working closely with the local authorities, John uses his vast experience and extensive knowledge of SEN, safeguarding and therapeutic techniques to develop various assessment tools to measure both short term solution focused strategies and longer term therapeutic models to ensure the students’ sustained progress and well-being.
